Project Workbench
Choosing your tools — View settings
Sandbox comes with a lot of tools. You probably won't need all of them in every project. View settings let you choose which tools the workbench offers when you start something new, so the General Tools and Phase Tools pills only show the ones you use.
Open it from Settings → View in the user menu.
What hiding a tool does
Hiding a tool only removes it from "create new". In practice:
- The tool's card leaves the workbench. It no longer appears under General Tools or Phase Tools in any phase.
- Its Add button leaves the Prioritization hub. This applies to RICE, MoSCoW, Kano and the 90% Rule.
- It leaves the next steps after Quick Start. This applies to the Idea Pitch, Problem & Root Cause and Project Charter.
What it doesn't do:
- Your existing work stays put. Anything you've already made with a hidden tool stays in Your Work, in Artifacts, and in its hub. You can open it, edit it, export it and delete it exactly as before.
- Your teammates aren't affected. View settings are personal. They apply to you in every project you work in. Each member chooses their own.
- Workspaces always show. The Learnings Matrix, Retrospectives, Interviews, Experiments, Sprint Plans and Prioritization hubs can't be hidden, because they're also where you find the work inside them.
Choosing your tools
The page lists every tool in the same groups as the workbench: General Tools first, then one group for each LEARN phase. Each tool shows its name and a short description.
- Untick the tools you want to hide, and tick the ones you want back.
- Use Show all or Hide all to change a whole group at once.
- Choose Save. Nothing changes until you save.
Everything is ticked to start with. Tools added to Sandbox in the future also start out visible, so you'll never miss a new one.
Getting a tool back
Go back to Settings → View, tick the tool again, and save. You don't need to remember what you hid. Whenever some tools are hidden, the workbench shows a small "N hidden · View settings" line under the pill, and that line links straight to the page. If you hide every tool in a pill, the pill says so and links you there too.
Sections that start open or closed
The workbench has four sections: Your work, Workspaces, General Tools and Phase Tools. You can choose which of them start open each time you open a project.
- On the workbench: choose the small bookmark next to a section's pill. A filled bookmark means the section opens by default, and an outline means it starts closed. The section opens or closes to match straight away.
- In Settings → View: under Sections on your board, pick Open or Closed for each section, then choose Save.
Choosing a pill itself still just opens or closes that section for now. It doesn't change your default. Like tool choices, these defaults are personal and apply to every project you work in.
Until you choose, Your work and General Tools start open, and Workspaces and Phase Tools start closed.
Coming later — tools by plan
Today, every account has access to every tool, and View settings only control what you see. Later, some tools may depend on your plan. When that happens, this page will only let you turn on the tools your plan includes. Beta users and admins keep access to everything.
